Since the launch of Nintendo Switch in 2017, it has been one of the hottest things in gaming and as Nintendo gears up for another big holiday selling season, they’ve been able to announce that the console has now passed 10 million sales in Europe alongside some impressive growth over previous years.

With the original Nintendo Switch design and the recently release Nintendo Switch Lite both on the shelves, hardware sales are up almost 30% on 2018 and over 40% than this time in 2017.

Indeed, that’s great news, considering that the Switch actually failed to hit its lofty sales targets for 2018 and Nintendo had to adjust its guidance to investors through the year. Still, the Switch stood at 32 million units globally by the end of 2018 and was 37 million this summer. Hence, they expect to have sold 18 million Switch units this financial year.

In addition to that, there’s now nine first party games that have passed the 1 million sales mark in Europe alone namely: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Splatoon 2, Super Mario Party, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe and 1-2-Switch.

Looking towards end of the year, and the Switch is in a strong position. Nintendo have an almost guaranteed success in the form of Pokémon Sword & Shield, irrespective of fan backlash as more details of the game have been revealed.

There’s also Luigi’s Mansion 3 and the broader appeal of the Wii Fit-like Ring Fit Adventures which will of course, release this month.

They can also hope that the recently released Nintendo Switch Lite sells well at its lower price point. The handset however, has received plaudits from critics, with its more compact form and handheld-only focus.
