Apple reveal the list of devices that will be updated to iOS 14 || Apple Reveals The List Of Devices That Will Support iOS 14 Update

Apple is expected to introduce iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 at WWDC 2020 in June. However, a new rumour from a French site, iPhonesoft revealed that this year's iOS version will support all the same devices as iOS 13 but iPadOS will cut off some devices.

Accordingly, iOS 14 will continue to support iPhone SE as well as iPhone 6s. Any other devices introduced since then will also be supported for this version of iOS. The following is a list of supported iPhone devices:
  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone SE
  • iPod touch (7th generation)

Of course, iOS 14 will also support all 2020 iPhones, including the cheaper iPhone SE 2 / iPhone 9 as well as the iPhone 12 series. However, rumors also suggest that Apple may stop supporting iPhone SE and iPhone 6s depending on the development over the next few months.

As for iPad devices, rumors claimed that Apple will cease support for iPad mini 4 introduced in September 2015 and iPad Air 2 introduced in October 2014. These devices are powered by A8 and A8X chips. The following is a list of supported iPad devices:
  • 12.9-inch iPad Pro
  • 11-inch iPad Pro
  • iPad Pro 10.5-inch
  • iPad Pro 9.7-inch
  • iPad (7th generation)
  • iPad (6th generation)
  • iPad (5th generation)
  • iPad mini (5th generation)
  • iPad Air (3rd generation)

However, this rumor also raises many doubts. Last year, the same iPhonesoft said that iOS 13 will stop supporting iPhone SE, but it ended up to be false. Thus, they have correctly predicted that the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 will stop at iOS 12.

Apple has many reasons to keep many iPhone and iPad devices on the latest iOS 14 version, which includes security and access to the latest features of subscription services like Apple TV + and Apple Arcade. Of course, that's also part of the reason behind the upcoming iPhone SE 2 / iPhone 9 in March 2020.
