When everyone was waiting for an PES 2021 eFootball announcement, Konami surprised everyone with an announcement of a possible PES 2022… yeah! that's right, 2022. The revelation came through its official website with a first teaser.

eFootball PES 2022 - name not officially confirmed - will come at the end of 2021 for the next-gen consoles and its main change will be the replacement of the graphics engine. The Japanese will stop using the FOX Engine for Unreal Engine. It was not clear, however, whether it will be Unreal Engine 5, recently announced by Epic Games.

The video features Messi, but offers no glimpse into the gameplay. Watch below:

This title is being developed with updated technology that will allow us to dazzle you with surprising improvements in all areas of the game. Expect more realistic models and animations, enhanced physics, photorealistic visuals and more.

But PES fans will not be helpless in 2020. Konami has announced that the 2021 version will really be a “season update”. That's because the development teams are very focused on the new generation game and it was necessary to prioritize efforts.

More news about this “season update” should arrive soon.
