Microsoft in a new concept introduced a colorful Start Menu and motion effects on Windows 10

Windows 10 brings modern icons, an improved Start Menu, and better features with Fluent Design. Windows 10 has officially received new icons, and Microsoft has released a video celebrating this milestone.

In that video, Microsoft also introduced upcoming changes to the Windows 10 Start Menu interface. The video shows the new Start Menu with beautiful animations, along with other improvements to the operating system.

In the new GIF, Microsoft introduced the concept of what the Start Menu would look like if Fluent Design's rainbow effects were deployed around the Live Tiles.

This concept also uses new Microsoft icons and another design of the Start Menu with a light shadow effect to help icons pop. In addition, Microsoft has also introduced a new icon for the notification button (Action Center) on the taskbar.

It's worth noting that while this is an official concept from Microsoft's designers, it's unlikely that this Start Menu will become an end product. Currently, Microsoft is exploring design ideas for the Start Menu to make the new icons more consistent with the look of Windows 10.

One of the discoveries included implementing a rainbow effect behind transparent cells in light or dark mode.

Microsoft has started rolling out a Start Menu that allows Live Tile backgrounds to fit into your Windows 10 theme of choice (light or dark). We could see more improvements to the Start Menu in 2021.
