Social Media platform Twitter, Chief Executive Jack Dorsey stated Wednesday the corporate is exploring allowing its users to receive tips, or digital funds, from their followers.
Dorsey stated the characteristic would help the social media platform earn more money and engagement from its base of 192 million daily active users.
“I believe the very first thing we want to concentrate on is that economic incentive to people who are contributing to Twitter,” he stated at the virtual Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference.
Introducing user tipping on the platform and new options like content subscriptions would help the corporate diversify its income, which is presently earned mainly from promoting advertising on Twitter.
The corporate stated Tuesday during an earnings call with analysts that he didn't expect subscriptions to be meaningful to the corporate’s income till next year.
Last month, Twitter bought e-newsletter startup Revue, as it hopes to attract folks wanting to create long-form content. This feature will help Twitter to increase its revenue globally.
