Brazil has fined Apple Dh 7.3 million ($2 million) for not placing a charger in the box for the iPhone 12 series.

In response to India Today, Brazilian consumer watchdog Procon-SP accused the corporate of engaging in “misleading promoting and selling a device without the charger ad on unfair terms.”

The regulator had asked the corporate if the lack of accessories would reduce the worth of the product. However, Apple didn't reply.

"Apple needs to know that in Brazil country, there are strong consumer safety laws and institutions," mentioned Fernando Capez, Procon-SP Executive Director.

Apple had announced last year in October that its new iPhone 12 series wouldn't include a free charger and earbuds, and claiming that not making these accessories would reduce 2 million metric tonnes of carbon, equal to removing 450k vehicles a year.

Apple's Vice President Lisa Jackson mentioned users were replacing power adapters with wi-fi charging methods, and it was thus wasteful to include chargers within the boxes. Apple is yet to respond to Procon-SP’s charges.
