Glen Schofield, head of Striking Distance Studios, recently stated that The Callisto Protocol won't skimp on blood and gore. In fact, it might be more brutal than Dead Space , a title on which the director also led development in the 2000s.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Schofield returned to talk about all the violence and brutality of the horror game, reaffirming that he will have “very horrible moments”. On another occasion, he explained that it took years for the “gore system” to be ready.
It has some really horrible moments. We have a gore system — we build the technology. It's a lot of rendering and you'll break characters into jumps, slash them with bones sticking out and all that.

So the rendering guys, they do their “special thing”, which is to make everything look wet. And so every character had to be made that way — and no matter what you do, pieces break, parts of the face, parts of the head… It's pretty advanced compared to Dead Space.

The Callisto Protocol is set on a moon of Jupiter, in the year 2320. Players will be taken to a maximum security prison, the Black Iron Prison, a place that guards several dangers.

The game arrives on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC on December 2nd.
