Recently, Sony uploaded a trailer of God of War Ragnarok, stating that the company will release the long anticipated game on the 11th of November, 2022. However, Sony itself have deleted the trailer, probably because it fall the same date that Starfield was supposed to release before its delay.
Of course, Starfield was delayed prior to the announcement regarding to the release date of God of War Ragnarok, both of them have nothing in common. Hence, there was a two-days gap between them.
One plausible theory for releasing the game on the 9th is that Wednesday is named after Odin and Norse mythology has nine realms so a release date of Wednesday, the 9th, would fit in with God of War Ragnarok’s theme.
However, this last-minute change may have been the reason why Sony delayed the release date’s announcement to begin with. At this point, gamers are probably well-aware of the hoopla surrounding God of War Ragnarok’s PS Blog post, which was supposed to go up on June 30th but ended up being pushed to July 6th.
A weird theory floating around for the delay was the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe vs. Wade ruling but we’re not sure how that connection was formed.
Jason Schreier, the reporter known for being Bloomberg's pen wrote on ResetEra saying “I heard after the announcement that it was indeed planned for 11/11/22, and that the sudden release change to 11/9/22 was why they bumped back the announcement from June 30 to the week after.”
He further stretched saying “Not 100% sure why they moved it. I think it was more of a logistical thing rather than anything to do with Starfield.”

On the other hand, the released date that Sony showed off on the trailer practically fall against its normal tradition of releasing the series and thus, have chosen Wednesday instead. This could be another reason why Sony decided to adjust the release date of the game.LOL sony posted a trailer of God of War Ragnarok on twitter just now but it ended with "Play the game on 11-11-22" haha. Clearly they were actually going to take the starfield release date.
