Recently, PlayStation presented a gameplay with never-before-seen footage from The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. The images show how Smeagol's alter-ego uses scenery and shadows to move between maps, utilizing agility, wit and his treacherous traits in a hostile and guarded Middle-earth.

In a statement issued on Monday (25), developer Daedalic Entertainment announced the postponement of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum indefinitely. Set to arrive this September, the new franchise title is pushed for "a few months" and will have more news shared in the future.

The company confirmed that it will take more time to deliver the “best possible experience” to players. Without providing details on the timing, the devs also mentioned the release of a new date in the "near future" and apologized for what happened.

First of all, we want to thank you for your patience and support so far. For the past few years, our team has been working to bring an unforgettable story to a breathtaking world full of magic and wonder.
We are dedicated to meeting the expectations of the community and covering the untold story of Gollum in a way that honors JRR Tolkien's vision.

That said, in order to deliver the best experience possible, we've decided to delay the release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum by a few months. We will update you with an exact time in the near future.

We are grateful for our passionate community and can't wait to share this unique experience with you.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
