Dead Island 2, a title that had its gameplay revealed during Gamescom 2022, should bet heavily on visual violence. In an interview with Eurogamer, director David Stenton suggested creating the “bloodiest” game ever made, bringing references to classic horror films where a high level of “gore” was fabricated from practical effects.
Stenton said he is a fan of horror cinema, especially films based on stories of the undead and with an appeal to violent elements.
According to him, this category experience will be explored in the game from Deep Silver Dambuster Studios, with many dismemberments, burning zombies and blood marking streets, walls and weapons.
Dead Island 2 will be released on February 3, 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC.

We've been working on this for years and years and years. We love those 80s horror movies, horror movies – our goal was to make it absolutely the bloodiest game there is.
But it's tied into the gameplay, with dismembering and melting and electrical charging and burning zombies and everything in between, so it's not just a facade of sorts, it genuinely ties into the way you play the game.
