At the biggest event of the year, Apple officially announced the iPhone 14 Pro with a new, flexible pill-shaped notch design that replaces the notch from the iPhone X, adds an always-on screen mode and is CEO Tim Cook calls "the most innovative professional product line ever".
The first noticeable design change with the iPhone 14 Pro models is the display. While Apple offers 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch options on the standard iPhone 14 model, the notch will be replaced by a pill-shaped cutout that will house components like Face ID and a circular cutout. second for the front-facing camera.
Apple has moved the neighborhood to the back of the screen, and notifications will now overflow out of the notch accompanied by an animation. Apple calls this system Dynamic Island. Both the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will include an Always-on Display with a new lock screen widget feature in iOS 16. The new A16 chip helps power the smooth animations featured in Dynamic Island, while also powering Apple's new camera system. For the first time, iPhone is upgraded from 12-megapixel sensor to 48-megapixel. The new main camera has up to two times improved low-light photography, all using a 4-pixel sensor with an aperture of f/1.78 and a focal length of 24mm.
For most photos, the sensor captures a composite image at 12-megapixel resolution to maximize light capture. This also allows Apple to crop the sensor in various ways to deliver true 2x zoom at the 48mm focal length. This should result in some impressive shots, and the new sensor even optimizes details in the ProRAW format.
The ultra-wide camera comes with improvements to macro photography and 3x improvements in low light. The flash on the iPhone 14's camera system has also been redesigned, so it's twice as bright and responsive to the focal length of the photo.
When it comes to video recording, the iPhone 14 Pro models certainly meet your needs. Cinema mode can now achieve 4K resolution at 30fps and 4K at 24fps.
Both Apple's iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will launch on September 16, pre-orders start September 9.
