Under the trend of rapid development of science and technology, the scenes that once appeared in people's fantasy are gradually becoming reality. We once saw the flying car soaring in the sky in science fiction movies and were moved by it, and now this thing is about to enter our lives.
According to reports, recently, American Joby Airlines officially submitted an application for a model certificate for flying taxis to the Civil Aviation Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, and said it plans to launch a flying taxi service in 2024.
According to our previous report, the flying taxi service will be launched in New York and Los Angeles first, and then gradually rolled out to other regions. Through this mode of transportation, the original 50-minute drive can be shortened to 10 minutes, and there is no trouble of traffic jams.
Notably, the company's eVTOL planes fly without burning fossil fuels, but instead combine electrical energy with renewable energy for zero-emission flight.
At present, the flying taxi produced by Joby Airlines has completed more than 1,000 test flights. It can accommodate a pilot and four passengers at the same time, can travel about 240 kilometers per charge, and can reach a top speed of 320 kilometers per hour.
In addition, Joby has partnered with the US-based ride-hailing giant Uber to connect flying taxis with ground-based ride-hailing services into one platform. Allow users to use this software to call a flying taxi without leaving home.
It is worth mentioning that Joby Airlines will also cooperate with Japan and put it into operation as soon as 2025.
