It is reported that Android 14 will introduce new back gestures and support for AV1 decoding
The official version of Google Android 13 has been released, and major manufacturers are currently upgrading their devices to the latest system. At the same time, the news of Android 14 also came.

Esper's senior technical editor Mishaal Rahman dives into some of the features you can expect to see on Android 14. Rahman said that Google may introduce the predicted return gesture that is currently being tested.

As you can see from the figure, the gesture will remind the user when the app exits, and the back gesture will return to the desktop, allowing the user to better judge whether to go back.

This feature is already available in AOSP Launcher3 in Android 13, but can only be turned on in developer options. Mishaal Rahman expects Android 14 to roll out this feature widely.

Additionally, Mishaal Rahman expects Android 14 to natively support AV1 decoding as Google rolls out the codec on more devices.

In addition, Qualcomm 8 Gen 2 may also support AV1 decoding, so we can expect AV1 decoding to become standard on Android flagship phones in 2023.

Previously, Google has announced that it will introduce the satellite connection function in Android 14. This function is also a latest and popular technology, including HUAWEI and Apple, and Google is not far behind.
