According to rumors, Samsung will increase the battery capacity of the Galaxy S23 and S23+. The S23 will have a battery capacity of 3,900mAh, the Plus model is 4,700mAh (both are up 200mAh compared to the previous generation).
Only the S23 Ultra will keep the capacity of its predecessor at 5,000mAh. But Samsung has come up with another way to improve battery life - Light Performance Mode.
This mode, introduced to Samsung's foldable devices earlier this year, will prioritize battery life and temperature over sheer power.
According to IceUniverse, the performance drop will be moderate while power consumption will drop significantly. Note that Light is a separate mode from the usual Battery Saver mode.
Light performance mode won't affect in-game performance as they will continue to be controlled from the separate Game Booster settings as they are.
S23 series will be equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, the enhanced performance of this chip can offset the slowdown caused by Light mode. 8 Gen 2 also promises to be more power efficient than 8 Gen 1, so battery life will be better.
