Volvo Cars' new flagship pure electric SUV, the EX90, was released in Stockholm, Sweden. The new car is built on a new native pure electric platform, continuing the design style of the Concept Recharge car, and using the LiDAR technology developed by Lumiar, equipped with the latest PilotAssist driving assistance functions and a smart cockpit.
It is reported that the new car will first be produced in Volvo's US plant, and will also be produced in Volvo's Chinese plant later.
In terms of appearance, the Volvo EX90 overall continues the design of the previous Volvo Concept Recharge car. The front face adopts the closed panel common to pure electric models, with the iconic Thor's Hammer headlights, which is highly recognizable.
On the side of the car, the body adopts a blackened frame, the body lines are quite simple and capable, and the design of hidden door handles and low wind resistance wheels creates a good sports atmosphere.
In terms of interior, the Volvo EX90 adopts a simple design style, equipped with a rectangular LCD instrument panel arranged horizontally and vertically, a large-sized central control screen, and a through-type air-conditioning outlet.
It also introduces a DUS dual-camera driver perception system. When the owner's attention is no longer focused on driving, the system will make a series of reminder measures.
It is worth mentioning that the new car will be equipped with a lidar developed by the Silicon Valley high-tech company Luminar. Under the condition of a reflectivity of 10%, the detection distance of the lidar can reach 250 meters. In addition, the lidar system will work with 5 body radars, 8 cameras and 16 ultrasonic sensors.
In terms of power, the Volvo EX90 is driven by front and rear dual motors, with a combined maximum output power of 370 kW and a peak torque of 910 N m; it is expected to be equipped with a 111 kWh battery pack, and the charging time for 10%-80% of the power in fast charging mode is about for 30 minutes.
