"Genius Hacker" George Hotz, famous for being the first person to unlock an iPhone and jailbreak a PS3, was known by his hacker alias "Geohot," and he announced on Twitter earlier today that he had resigned. His Twitter internship.

AndroBliz learned that George Hotz, who had just resigned as CEO of self-driving startup Comma AI in October, expressed support for CEO Elon Musk’s statement on November 16 that the company needs "very hardcore," then offered to join Twitter.

He said: "This is the attitude that building incredible things should have, and let everyone who does not aspire to greatness leave." Musk replied, "Let's talk", and George Hotz will do a 12-week internship at Twitter in San Francisco.

Two days later, on Nov. 18, George Hotzge said he had officially started working for Twitter. Three days later, George Hotz said Musk gave him two things he had 12 weeks to do: fix Twitter search and fix the popup that users might see when scrolling through Twitter when they're not logged in.

If you count George Hotz's working hours from November 18th, he has worked at Twitter for about 5.5 weeks. Don't know if he fixed the Twitter search function, but the second task is done, now you can close the login popup and continue browsing Twitter.

George Hotz has signaled in recent days that he is considering leaving. He also took issue with Twitter's brief ban on posting Instagram links. Still, even with his early departure, George Hotz said he still supports the success of Twitter 2.0.
