During the Tekken 7 North America Regional Finals this past weekend, franchise director Katsuhiro Harada and producer Michael Murray revealed several Tekken 8 news.
Among the highlights, the devs confirmed significant changes in the fighter Paul Phoenix's special — one of the saga's veterans.
Since the first titles, the Paul's Rage special is a problem if it hits the opponent, as it is a charged blow that causes absurd damage.
For the sequel, the character is not only visually different (without his characteristic forelock), but his “card-card move” now has an animation that prevents the continuation of the combo — much to the opponents' delight. But that doesn't mean he's any less dangerous, so stay tuned when you play against him in Tekken 8.
Tekken 8 is currently in development for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, although a release date has yet to be officially confirmed. Bandai Namco has already said that it intends to release the sequel in fiscal year 2023 – which starts in April next year.
