During The Game Awards 2022, Electronic Arts released a trailer featuring the first gameplay footage of Star Wars JEDI: Survivor. The images feature news on combat abilities, CGI story details, and Cal Kestis' updated look for the sequel.

However, Stig Asmussen, director of Star Wars JEDI: Survivor, provided further details on the gameplay mechanics implemented in the title.

According to him, Cal Kestis' adventure offers alternative means of exploration, varied modes of combat and strategic battle conditions.

To develop the Fallen Order sequel, Respawn 's devs evolved the protagonist's skills and tools. In the game, the jedi will be able to use five fighting stances, combining dual lightsabers, sabers and blaster, firearms only, and more. Asmussen gave an interview to Game Informer.

A lot of it depends on the enemy you're encountering. It's advantageous to use certain types of stances against certain types of enemies, and it's up to the player to figure that out. It requires the player to destroy enemies and find out which is the best weapon of choice.

In the dark times of Star Wars JEDI: Survivor, a more confident approach stands out as the protagonist's main personality trait. In addition, he can access new ways to explore the planets, including grappling hooks to reach higher locations and mounts.

It's a much broader metroidvania approach. Cal can bridge large gaps by chaining together various types of abilities. But it's also about how we approach these mounts and how they're used to trade and take over the world.

Star Wars JEDI: Survivor will be released on March 17, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
