Those who claim this are the executive directors of the show, who came to São Paulo last weekend
Anyone who had the opportunity to play the first The Last of Us knows that the game has a very well-developed story — and after the series produced by HBO, the gameplay experience can get even “richer”.

Last weekend, part of the show's cast, as well as executive producers Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann (Games Director at Naughty Dog), were in São Paulo for CCXP 2022.

Both heads of the project stated in a panel that the history of the series will come with news that were not possible to add in the games.

Mazin — It's about the journey. It's entirely about the journey. I played The Last of Us like 12 times. I know how this ends. I love the journey. And we promise, there will be surprises along the way. If you've already played, I guarantee there are things you don't know are coming that will surprise you.

Druckmann — There are things that were written that we didn't get a chance to put in the game. So you'll see an enrichment of these characters... It's interesting, we've talked to people who've watched the entire season and come back and play the game, and they said the game is now richer after watching the series

During production of The Last of Us series, the creators assured fans that the show will stay true to the original product — but with "minor deviations" . The debut in the HBO Max catalog will take place on January 15th.
